Shrine
Sawawachi-gijinja is located on the premises. According to the shrine’s tradition, it was founded when Prince Yamato Takeru, on his return from a campaign in the eastern provinces, passed through this area, paid homage to the god Sabagami, and enshrined him. It is a historic shrine where figures such as Minamoto no Yoriyoshi once offered waka poems to pray for victory in battle.
